EPD Disclosure: Issuing a "Green ID" for Steel Products

As an internationally recognized environmental information disclosure tool, the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is based on ISO 14025 standards. It quantifies data on resource consumption, carbon emissions, and pollutant emissions throughout a product’s entire lifecycle—from raw material extraction, production, and manufacturing to recycling—providing downstream users and consumers with authoritative, traceable green credentials.

Recently, the EPDs for hot-rolled steel plates and strips, hot-rolled H-shaped steel, and ESP hot-rolled steel plates and strips from Rizhao Steel Holding Group Co., Ltd., as well as ESP hot-rolled pickled steel plates and strips and ESP hot-rolled continuous hot-dip galvanized steel plates and strips from Rizhao Baohua New Materials Co., Ltd., were successfully published on the EPD platform for the full steel industry chain. Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent global carbon tariffs and green procurement requirements, EPD certification has become a "passport" for Chinese steel to break through international trade green barriers.

The release of these EPDs not only represents Rizhao Steel Group’s "green report card" to the world but also signals that in-depth emission reductions driven by transparency and digitalization are reshaping the competitive logic of traditional industries. Moving forward, Rizhao Steel Group will write a new chapter of high-quality development in the global green transformation.
